About US

Our Qualified Denture Dental Prosthetist

Renata Fransen is the dental prosthetist behind PMQ Dentures and the person you will see at every appointment.

She started her career as a dental technician, spending years in the lab learning how dentures are built from the ground up. That technical foundation now sets her apart at the chairside, because she understands exactly how each adjustment in design affects the way a denture fits, feels and looks in your mouth.

Based in Port Macquarie and serving patients across the Mid North Coast, Renata takes the time to listen, explain your options clearly and make sure you leave with a denture you are genuinely happy with. If you would like to learn more about her background and approach, visit our About page.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • When was your last denture check-up in Port Macquarie?

If you can't remember, it's probably overdue. Denture wearers should have a professional check-up at least once a year, even if everything feels fine. Your gums and jawbone change shape gradually over time, which can affect how your denture sits and functions. At PMQ Dentures, Renata will assess your fit, check for signs of wear and tear, and examine the health of your oral tissues. Regular check-ups help catch small problems before they turn into costly repairs or replacements. Call us on 0434 775 444 to book your next visit.

  • What is the difference between a dental prosthetist and a dentist?

A dental prosthetist is a registered oral health professional who specialises in the design, construction, fitting and maintenance of removable dentures. While a dentist provides general dental care including fillings, extractions and overall oral health management, a dental prosthetist focuses entirely on denture work. At PMQ Dentures, Renata Fransen holds dual qualifications and spent 15 years as a dental technician before becoming a prosthetist, giving her a deep understanding of both the clinical and technical sides of creating dentures that fit, feel and look their best.

  • How long do dentures last before they need replacing?

With proper care, a well made set of dentures can last anywhere from 7 to 10 years. However, your mouth continues to change during that time. Bone resorption, gum tissue changes and general wear on the denture teeth can all affect comfort and function well before the denture reaches the end of its life. That is why annual check-ups and timely relines are so important. Renata will always be honest with you about whether your current denture can be adjusted or whether it is time for a new set.

  • Do I need a referral from my dentist to visit PMQ Dentures?

No referral is needed. You can book directly with us by calling 0434 775 444. As a registered dental prosthetist, Renata can assess, design and fit your dentures independently. That said, we work closely with local dentists across Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Kempsey and surrounding areas to coordinate treatment when extractions or other dental work are involved. If you do have a referral or an NSW Oral Health voucher, simply bring it along to your first appointment.

  • How much do dentures cost in Port Macquarie?

The cost of dentures varies depending on the type of denture you need (full, partial, immediate or implant retained), the materials used and the complexity of your case. Every patient is different, so we provide a personalised quote after your initial consultation. We accept NSW Government Oral Health Fee for Service vouchers and can discuss payment options to help make treatment manageable. Our focus is always on providing the best value through quality craftsmanship that lasts, rather than cutting corners on materials or fit.

  • Can I eat normally with new dentures?

It takes a little patience, but yes. Most people need a few weeks to adjust to eating with new dentures. We recommend starting with softer foods cut into small pieces, chewing evenly on both sides of your mouth to keep the denture stable. As your confidence builds, you can gradually reintroduce firmer foods. Some foods like sticky lollies, very hard nuts or corn on the cob may always be a bit tricky. Renata will walk you through what to expect during your fitting appointment and is always available if you need bite adjustments during the settling in period.

  • What makes PMQ Dentures different from other denture clinics on the Mid North Coast?

Renata Fransen brings a combination of skills that is genuinely rare in this industry. Before qualifying as a dental prosthetist, she spent 15 years working as a dental technician, which means she understands every stage of the denture making process from the lab bench to the chair. She holds dual degrees and has over 20 years of experience across NSW and internationally. At PMQ Dentures, your dentures are designed and crafted with that hands on technical knowledge, resulting in a fit and finish that stands apart. We also use premium Kulzer materials from Germany because the quality of what goes into your denture directly affects how long it lasts and how natural it looks.
